Environment
“We realise that our business has an effect on our local, regional and global environment. In recognition of this, we are committed to making continuous improvements in environmental performance and the prevention of pollution. We regard all environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice as setting the minimum standards of performance”
• NJ Woodco maintains that part of its environmental strategy is sustainable waste management and as such recognises it’s responsibilities to recycle materials wherever possible. We will minimize waste and any necessary disposal of materials will be through safe and responsible methods.
Minimisation - this is the best and most cost effective solution.
Recovery including Re-use and Recycling - where minimisation isn't possible.
Disposal - the last resort and most costly option
• We minimise the consumption of natural resources and energy through investment in energy efficient products and preventing the unnecessary waste of valuable energy
• Working in the construction industry we are fully aware of the environmental issues associated with the use of many products. We will actively encourage our suppliers and customers to select materials from sustainable sources.
• Due to the nature of our work, the daily use of company vehicles is unavoidable. However, through the use of intelligent route management, regular vehicle servicing and employee van sharing schemes we minimise our fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
• We will also work with our contractors, suppliers and clients to ensure that they also recognise and reduce the environmental impact of their products and transportation.
• Through the use of company guidelines, education and training, our workforce are committed to not only reducing the company’s environmental impact but also their own.
